Easter Lilies. The Worship Committee will place Easter lilies in the Sanctuary on Easter Sunday as a floral reminder of the resurrection. Envelopes for ordering a lily in memory or in honor of someone will be included as an insert in the Bulletin on March 15 and 22 and will also be available in the Narthex on Sunday, March 29 which is the last day to order a lily. The cost of a lily is $12.00. We will list all the dedications in a bulletin insert on Easter Sunday, and anyone who wishes may take home a lily after the Easter Sunday Service.
Flowering Cross. We will have a flowering cross in front of the church on Easter Sunday. Please bring fresh cut flowers and stop by on Easter Sunday to observe the tradition of transforming the cross of Calvary into the Cross of the Resurrection.
IMPACT, our local faith-based justice ministry network, held its annual Rally Monday night to hear a progress report on work being done to address the issues of affordable housing, transit wait times, and neighborhood violence. You can read a re-cap here. Be sure to mark your calendar to attend the Nehemiah Action on Tuesday, March 24, 6:30pm at Charlottesville High School MLK-PAC.
Choir Rehearsal is on Wednesdays at 6:45 pm. All are welcome.
Adult Sunday School is studying Being United Methodist by J. Ellsworth Kalas.
PACEM
We have the opportunity to assist Olivet Presbyterian Church with their PACEM hosting period, April 7-21, just as they assisted us when we hosted in November. This is the first time OPC has hosted the men. If you would like to help with meal service, cleaning, logistics, or hospitality, please sign up here. Contact Emily for more information- ivycreekmusic@gmail.com. Thank you for your continued support of this vital ministry.
You can also contact Sue or Emily if you would like to help with the meal we will be preparing for them on April 15 (more details will be included in the April Newsletter).
Ronald McDonald House Opportunity.
A small group of yard workers is being organized to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House once a month. Please contact the church office if you would like to help.
HUNGER MINISTRY
As we move into spring, our March collection is taking a fresh new approach!
In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day on March 17—honoring Ireland’s Patron Saint and commemorating his role in bringing Christianity to Ireland in the 5th century—we will be collecting GREEN foods throughout the month of March. With gardens beginning to grow, we are excited to include fresh produce in our collection. A cooler will be available in the sanctuary to safely store fresh donations. Great donation ideas include:
Onions
Lettuce
Cabbage
Cucumbers
Broccoli
Brussels sprouts
Celery
Granny Smith apples
We will also continue to collect canned foods, and to match our green theme, consider items such as:
Green beans
Peas
Asparagus
Mixed greens
Thank you for supporting this seasonal effort and helping nourish our community. Your generosity makes a meaningful difference!
CEDARS NURSING HOME MINISTRY
Our nursing home is in need of large print word search books and radios (prefer those that are not battery operated) and they do not need to be new. If you have these items, please leave them at the entrance to the West Wing.
Special Music. Each Sunday of Lent, we will be singing "A Wilderness Wandering People".
