A soup kitchen is held in Charlottesville every weekday from 12-1pm at five different downtown churches.  First United Methodist Church is the host church on Mondays and a group from Ivy Creek provides the meal there every third Monday.  This dedicated group prepares a hot meal for around 125 people each month.  Leaving a donation in the collection jar in the Narthex or placing a check in the offering plate designated “Soup Kitchen” can support their efforts.  If you are interested in learning more or participating in this ministry, please contact the missions coordinator .

Verse of The Day

“ “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” (Matthew 5:43-45)
