MACAA’s Hope House is a transitional housing program that provides housing for homeless families. Families can spend up to six months, rent-free, in the four-unit Henry B. Mitchell Hope House located in the City of Charlottesville.
All residents must find employment and follow a structured program of
goal setting and working on self-sufficiency. They work on budgeting,
home management, interview skills, and interaction with the schools
through continuous support from the Family Support and Development
program.
Ivy Creek ministers to the residents of these apartments each year at
Christmas by including the family members on our angel tree. Each
family receives a basket full of cleaning supplies and each family
member receives 2 gifts—a fun gift and a clothing gift. We deliver the
gifts each year with a pizza party for the residents during one of
their Thursday evening meetings. We also try to include them in our
annual Halloween party and provide the children with an Easter basket.
