George E. Booker served as pastor of Ivy Creek United Methodist Church in 1884, and he is our first documented pastor.

Life Details
- He enlisted in the Confederate Army as a chaplain on September 5, 1861 originally with Company S, 48th Infantry Regiment Virginia and then received his commission as a captain in Company H, 58th Infantry Regiment Virginia
- He served as pastor at Bellamy Methodist Episcopal Church in Glouster County in 1876-1880
- According to the 1880 Census, he was 45 years old; married to Fanny M. (28 years old); and had three sons George E. Jr (8), Francis E. (6), and Marshall B. (28 months)
- By 1890, he was pastor of Centenary Methodist Episcopal Church in Chesterfield, VA
- According to a 1936 survey report, Old Booker Cemetery in Cumverland County has a tombstone with the following inscription and likely marks the grave of our first documented pastor:
