pacem-logo.gifNovember 21st: Tonight, there are 20 guests. They were served a variety of soups from members of Mt. Moriah UMC in Whitehall. They brought a huge crew of about 20 volunteers to fellowship and serve dinner. The men were hoping to stay until 9am tomorrow, but transportation was not available so they will be leaving at 6am. Please keep them in your prayers as many of them will spend Thanksgiving outside, possibly alone, instead of with family and friends. Tomorrow, we have many people coming together to decorate, cook, and serve what should be a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings.
November 20th: Tonight we had 21 guests. Dinner was prepared and served by Sarah's Circle and they made chicken tortilla casseroles with lima beans and applesauce. Several of the men attended a 12 Recovery Bible Study that is held every Tuesday evening.

November 19th: Tonight we have 28 guests. They were fed meatloaves, macaroni and cheese, green beans, and applesauce by our own Ivy Creek UMC Choir. Tonight, we had a very special guest from West Main Hair Design who graciously offered to do 10 haircuts. He came to us through one of the volunteers from the Charlottesville Friends Meeting. We also had 2 laundry volunteers so we were able to get about 9 loads of laundry done this evening. We are still in need of an overnight volunteer for Thursday evening. Please email the Missions Coordinator if you are able to help. Also, the men will be staying until 9am on Thanksgiving day so a few men are planning to make a full breakfast for them on Thursday. If you would like to be involved, let me know at Missions Coordinator . We have some additional request added to our request list. Please check it to see if there are items you would like to donate.

November 18th: Our Thanksgiving week of PACEM began on Saturday evening with 27 guests.  They had spaghetti prepared by the Men's group and breakfast sandwiches on Sunday morning prepared by our youth.  Eleven of them stayed for church and we enjoyed having them. They were transported back downtown by a bus from Tandem Friends School . Sunday evening, we had 24 guests and Spring Hill Baptist Church provided dinner with fried chicken and meatballs. We have been blessed with all the snacks, soda, toothbrushes, soap, and shampoo that we will need for the week. We have a sign up sheet outside the kitchen in the hallway for the men to sign up for special requests. Many generous folks checked the list after church today and brought clothing and shoes for the men who signed up on Saturday night.  Several more men had requests for clothing and so I will list them below.  Please follow the link to see what needs exist. Email me with anything you would like to provide and bring it by the church and we will get it to the person who needs it. Thanks to everyone for all their generosity and time to make this happen.

Ivy Creek UMC is hosting PACEM during Thanksgiving week (Nov 17-24). During this period of giving, we are thankful to have the opportunity to share. We invite everyone who is interested in this valuable mission to participate. Check our website daily for updates about our first week of PACEM (we will also host PACEM during Christmas week). We will try to update the number of guests and any needs that may arise.  Please contact the Missions Coordinator with questions about ways you can participate.

We are partnered this season with very helpful people from the Charlottesville Friends Meeting and Tandem Friends School.  If you see any of these folks around, stop to say hello and thank them for their assistance. If you would like to help with a donation, a list of needed items follows.
