On March 16, Ivy Creek United Methodist Church opened its year-long bicentinneal celebration with an old-fashioned tent meeting. To comemorate this milestone, two new panes were added to the stained glass window above the entrance: Established 1808. We were honored to have Governor Jim Gilmore and the Honorable Creigh Deeds as guests for this historic event.

Ivy Creek has a rich history (find out about Ivy Creek's Founding ), and in accordance with the rich history of Ivy Creek, the service honored both the long-time members of Ivy Creek:

and a message both from our minister, Jim Thornton, as well as the reading of a letter from Governor Tim Kaine .

Finally, in the Methodist tradition, everyone enjoyed fellowship and food after the service:

Verse of The Day

“ “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” (Matthew 5:43-45)
